York County Becomes the First Service Location for NEXAT Agricultural Machinery in the United States

24 May 2024

April was a significant month for York County and NEXAT, a market-leading agricultural machinery manufacturer. Two new NEXATs were delivered to the region and NEXAT personnel are traveling across York to support a variety of farmers during planting season.

“York County is in the heartland of highly successful corn and soybean production,” says Ben Voss, President & Managing Director. “The reliable water resources for irrigation along with the field sizes and farm setup was identified as a key reason to come to York. It is also central to a wide region where the NEXAT can be promoted to the target market for our system.”

The York County Development Corporation (YCDC) worked closely with NEXAT as it reviewed various locations in the United States and eventually chose York County. Learn more about the technology NEXAT offers and how its systems can improve farming practices.

NEXAT Increases Efficiency so Farmers Save Money

Anyone who works in agriculture within York County and its surrounding areas should be interested in NEXAT systems. With 50 years of development expertise and a focus on cutting-edge technology, NEXAT makes equipment that maximizes output while minimizing wear on the land.

“The NEXAT system is more efficient which means it saves the farmer money,” says Voss. “Their overall investment into machinery can be reduced and their input costs can go down.”

Voss says that better equipment investments support environmental sustainability while also saving money. The NEXAT system burns less diesel, which helps the environment while cutting operating costs. It places fertilizer more effectively, which has the same effect. This equipment also reduces tillage, which helps farmers save time while preserving the carbon and nitrogen in the soil.

“Farmers today are very good stewards of the environment,” says Voss. “We are simply offering an option that helps them be more profitable and that also has environmental benefits.”

NEXT Supports Sustainability in 5 Targeted Ways

Farmers need a healthy environment for their crops to grow, which is why NEXAT invests in sustainable machinery. Its technology supports this year’s yield while protecting the land for years to come. There are five key ways that NEXAT systems do this:

  1. NEXAT produces fuel-efficient machines that require less diesel.
  2. The machines reduce the number of passes over a field, further lowering fuel consumption.
  3. They use no-till or minimum-till practices that reduce soil emissions.
  4. NEXAT enables precision farming, which results in better fertilizer utilization while reducing pesticides and inputs.
  5. It uses controlled traffic farming that reduces soil compaction and decreases the need to rehabilitate fields with deep ripping or other tillage passes.

Each of these improvements enables farmers to use less diesel, save money on fertilizer and pesticides, and save time, while also protecting the land that gives them their crops.

YCDC Supported NEXAT’s Arrival in York County

NEXAT spent the past year testing its equipment on various farms and working with different counties across the United States. Its leadership team eventually chose York County to establish its first official service location. YCDC has worked carefully with this organization to make its transition smooth and speedy.

“The York Dev Co team has been wonderful,” says Voss. “We have received a lot of great support and resources that have made our move to York easy and welcoming. Without this, we would not have been able to get our operations in place so quickly and easily.”

The arrival of NEXAT has generated a lot of buzz within the region but has also raised the profile of York County in other agricultural communities.

“Farmers, agricultural manufacturers, and other related businesses all want to know why NEXAT chose York County to establish its American operations,” says Lisa Hurley, Executive Director of YCDC. “When more executives learn about everything York County has to offer, we know they are going to want to move here, too.”
